Towards the beginning of the time I was involved in the girls’ lives, I would not go with when Dad picked them up from DB’s home. I wanted to avoid conflict and drama, and honestly, with the things she had been saying about me, I didn’t want to be around her. Unfortunately, there were times that we were going somewhere directly after picking them up, which meant I had to go with.
In these situations, I would not get out of the truck. I sat in the truck and minded my own business while Dad would get out and knock on the door and get the kids. The very first time that I was with set the tone for the typical pick-ups for quite some time. As I stated, I sat in the passenger seat minding my own business. I actually remember specifically that day that I was texting my best friend to avoid having to even look up at the house. Because of the hostility that had been occurring too often, Dad had chosen to record the conversation when he got to the door. He approached the door and knocked. Natalie opened the door and both girls stood there, while DB stood across the garage. She instantly started yelling at Dad asking “How could you bring that ugly troll onto my property?” Dad tried his best to avoid conflict and ignored her nasty remarks. He asked the girls if they were ready to go. Zoe mentioned she didn’t have her tennis shoes and wasn’t sure where they were. Dad asked DB if she had Zoe’s shoes, to which DB then threw the tennis shoes directly at Dad, who was also standing about a foot away from both of the girls.
After this, while Zoe was putting her shoes on, DB continued to yell about how I was not allowed to be on her property and if I ever did it again, she’d get a restraining order.
Keep in mind, at this point, we hadn’t even met yet! Part of me wished she actually tried to get a restraining order against me for being in Dad’s truck just so it would have been documented early on that she was ridiculous! Also…. I would have loved to see a judge reading a HRO request because someone’s “Ex-husbands girlfriend was sitting in his truck while he came to pick up our kids.” I can only assume any judge would find that entertaining!
